 "Considerando que máis de 250 millóns de persoas se expresan no idioma portugués, con importante presencia socio-cultural e xeopolítica en varias nacións de todos os continentes, sendo a 5ª máis falada no mundo e a 3ª entre as consideradas linguas universais de cultura e unha das catro faladas nos seis continentes...". Velaquí algúns dos argumentos nos que se fundamenta a proposta ás Nacións Unidas para oficializar na institución a lingua portuguesa. "Considering that more than 250 million people speak in Portuguese language, with important socio-cultural and geopolitic presence  in several nations of all the continents, being the fifth language more spoken in the world and the third among the considered universal languages of culture and one of four languages spoken in the six continents...
